ONE CLUSTER ONE VISION

CASAGANAAN PROMOTES TOURISM IN ROMBLON

"CASAGANAAN" is a coined word for the four clustered municpalities namely: Calatrava, San Agustin, San Andres and Sta. Maria. These are contiguious municipalities with the same natural resources and with very rich forest resources. These municipalities were the first to cluster in the province to implement the AMALOG program. They have decided to come up with a product that will promote the local government units and improve its economy. Hence, The municipality of San Agustin being rich in tiger grass has chosen to develop its broom making. Mayor Madrona had been to Japan for training and as a result, JICA had funded its broom making industry. It has put up a kiln dryer so that production of brooms could still go on even during the wet season. Mothers with small children can still work while their children are safe in a playroom and learn to socialize as well. While tiger grass were harvested from the wild before, now it is planted and cooperators are provided with assistance in the form of input like fertilizer. The adjacent municipalities with the same climate for tiger grass bring their harvested product to the center for broom production.
