SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT OF  TORRIJOS MARINDUQUE

In line with the approval of the integrated Solid Waste Management System Framework by the President of the Philippines, all local government units are enjoined to assume responsibility for the efficient collection and disposal of garbage in their respective localities. Administrative order 94-01 of Mayor Tomas N. Pizarro created Solid Waste Management Committee to to conduct, study and propose measures in establishing a sound and workable Municipal Sanitation and Environmental Protection.

In line wity the approval of the integrated Solid Waste Management System Framework by the President of the Philippines, all local government units are enjoined to assume respons ibility for the efficient collection and disposal of garbage in their respective localities. Administrative order 94-01 of Mayor Tomas N. Pizarro created Solid Waste Management Committee to conduct, study and propose measures in establishing a sound and workable Municipal Sanitation and Environmental Protection.

The old open dumpsite was recommended for closure and rehabilitation in 2001. The new controlled is located at Sitio Naduyan, Barangay Poblacion in a government property with area of 1.5 hectares and approximately 1 km from the town proper. The geological Assessment of the Sanitary Landfill conducted by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau, DENR date September 30, 1998 recommended and that the site is suitable for waste disposal.
Public Hearing was conducted on August 4, 2001 approving the site for Solid Waste Management
